Mapping "Arque" opens the Jardins de Llum festival in Manresa

23/02/2025
Manresa has witnessed a new large-scale digital art piece during the Jardins de Llum 2025 festival, with the video mapping project titled "Arque," a creation by Sínoca with music by Juan J. Ochoa. In this artwork, projected onto the majestic façade of Manresa Town Hall, Silvia Isach explores the essence of water as a fundamental principle of the universe, a theme that dates back to the philosophical thoughts of Thales of Miletus, who identified water as the primary mover of creation.
Projected in continuous sessions over two days, the "Arque" mapping took viewers on a visual and sound journey where water, in its various forms and essence, revealed itself as the element capable of generating, transforming, and connecting everything that exists. From the tiniest drop to the vastness of a body of water, the piece immersed the audience in a universe of fundamental shapes such as the point, the line, and the straight line—elements that transformed as the water moved and expanded in a constant cycle of creation.
In line with the ephemeral art festival centered around light and water, this projection mapping proposes a reflection on water as a principle that, like blood in the human body, flows through everything, from the depths of the sea to the heights of the mountains, following an endless cycle of ascent and descent. Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's analogies, the 3D mapping work becomes a reflection between the macrocosm and the microcosm, where contrasts between cold and heat give rise to natural tensions that create phenomena such as torrential rains, dense fogs, and humidity.
Sínoca's creation in Plaça Major has been the epicenter of the festival's light itineraries, kicking off the event and captivating the attention of the general public as well as digital culture enthusiasts. The projection mapping project has not only been presented as a visual art experience that fuses technology and digital art but also as a dialogue between the façade of the Town Hall and the movements of water, merging ancient and modern concepts using technology in an innovative way. Every current, every form, every drop that moved across the building's surface is a manifestation of the archetypal principle that generates all things, like a perpetual flow of life and transformation.
This work is not only an example of the capacity of digital art to transform public spaces and offer a spectacular visual experience but also a demonstration of how new technologies can reinterpret history, nature, and science through art. The use of technology in this context allows the viewer to immerse themselves in a visual and sound universe full of meanings, with a narrative that unfolds dynamically and continuously, like the flow of water that constantly transforms.
