photosynthesis, projection mapping in the forest

26/05/2021
"Photosynthesis" is an organic projection mapping that gives voice to the forest and stages in situ the history of its living protagonists such as ground, trees and leaves. The natural beauty of these is accentuated by visuals reactive to surround sound. An audiovisual mapping intervention in nature created by visual artist Silvia Isach, aka Sínoca, and musical composer Roger Subirana.
In a poetic approach, the installation gives voice to the trees, these plant structures that become abstract, unpredictable characters and the beating hearts of the forest where they live. The project highlights the chemical process that is the source of energy for practically all forms of life: photosynthesis. Through video mapping, light and sound beautifully modify the immovable appearance of nature, giving it a voice, having precise control of its elements without generating any environmental impact or waste. With this perceptual mapping project, Subirana and Isach offer the public the opportunity to rediscover a magical and particular place in a unique way: the forest at night. An immersive journey of the senses in different variants that also offers to the viewer the perspective of two artists who work complementary disciplines in this space, where nature and new technologies combine to explore and produce artistically in an area and format outside conventional.
